Magnat Transpuls 800A – The beast is now also active

You'd love to have a Magnat Transpuls everywhere, wouldn't you? That's now possible! The Transpuls 800A is opening up completely new fields of activity for what is probably the boldest speaker series in our range. Why? There are two reasons: First, the Transpuls 800A is active. This means that the amplifiers are integrated. The 800A is also equipped with all kinds of connections, so it's not just a speaker system, but a complete hi-fi system.

Reason two: It is compact. Well, it's more compact than the other Transpuls models. We have simply referred to it as a shelf speaker, which is apt due to its approximately 40 cm height and 24 cm width. At its core, however, it is simply a rebel with compact dimensions. Of course, you can use the 800A on a shelf or a sideboard, as well as on your desk. Whether you set up your gaming monitor or extra-wide business display in between is completely up to you. We are sure you will find 1001 uses for it.

Technology just like every Transpuls model: Pure power in abundance

Let's start with the speakers. A Transpuls has a horn tweeter. Period. This is no different for the 800A. The single compression horn tweeter is powered by a 25 mm fabric dome. The drive? A powerful neodymium magnet, of course. The geometry of the horn has been perfectly calculated to ensure the tweeter not only sounds extremely dynamic, but also very natural. Power and sound combined, what more could anyone want? Oh yes, bass.

The mid-range driver measures 17 cm in diameter. The powerful drive behind the hardened paper cone with its PA fabric mount inspires the deep bass range to perform dynamic feats. Of course, we also utilized Klippel laser measuring technology here to detect and eradicate disruptive distortions. The result: A bass range that would make much larger speakers blush with embarrassment.

The innovative heart of the Transpuls, however, is the amplifier electronics, which is represented by the "A" in the name. It transforms the already irresistible speakers into a complete hi-fi system. With a continuous output of 2 x 60 watts and a peak output of 2 x 120 watts, the amps really heat up the speakers. Incidentally, both are hidden in the right active speaker, whereas the left is simply connected with a speaker cable. This makes wiring a breeze.

Bluetooth, HDMI and even vinyl

How is music delivered to the Transpuls 800A? You really are spoiled for choice here. If you want to keep things straightforward, simply pair your smartphone via Bluetooth and you're ready to go. Bluetooth aptX means you can use the Transpuls to play your music library, as well as every imaginable streaming service, in optimum sound quality with a high resolution.

The HDMI input also makes the Transpuls 800A a perfect addition to your TV. The corresponding HDMI port on the television (marked "ARC") provides films, series, and of course music, with a completely different acoustic dimension.

There is also an optical digital input that supports signals up to 24 bit/192 kHz and, as a result, is capable of reproducing high-resolution audio. On the analog side, the Transpuls features a jack that allows most portable devices to be easily connected, as well as an RCA input. A phono preamplifier can be switched on for this, thereby enabling you to directly connect a turntable with an MM system. Yes, we have already said it, but the Transpuls 800A really is a complete stereo system. And the supplied remote control allows you to operate everything from the comfort of your sofa. If you can't find the remote, you can use the input selection and volume buttons at the rear of the Transpuls unit.

What about the visual appearance? Iconic

A Transpuls speaker looks exactly like a speaker should. In Your Face! The sturdy MDF housing in its dark wood decor is a nod to the heyday of the hi-fi industry yet, at the same time, is more contemporary than ever before. The classic black baffle provides an ideal stage for the real stars, namely the sound transducers. A Transpuls doesn't hide, but announces its musical abilities quite openly. If you don't trust your surroundings to be able to cope with the sight of the horn tweeter, woofer and two bass reflex tubes, you can hide them behind a fabric cover with matching retro design.

The exclusive solid metal type plate on the front of the speaker also attests to our attention to detail. The infrared receiver for the remote control and the LED for the status display are also concealed in the active speaker. In addition to the standard rubber feet for acoustic decoupling, we are also providing the Transpuls 800A with two higher models. These allow you to set up the speakers at a slight angle for an even better sound.

All signals are transmitted in a straightforward manner from a TV set to speakers via the HDMI audio return channel (ARC), with the same applying to everything connected to the television. Regardless of whether you´re using a set-top box or games console, as soon as the respective input is selected on the TV set, films, series and games are reproduced with a full-ranging sound. And thanks to CEC, i.e. control via the HDMI port, you can easily control the volume using your TV´s remote control.

Vinyl and more - the Monitor Reference speakers are equipped for anything
Regarding the on-trend topic of records: The integrated, high-quality phono preamplifier allows a turntable with an MM pickup (MM stands for Moving Magnet), for example our MTT 990, to be connected directly to the speakers. There are also additional analog and digital inputs that enable any existing source to be connected to our Monitor Reference speakers. Signals with up to 24 bits and 192 kHz can be processed via the optical digital input. This means music can also be reproduced in high-res quality.

Premium technology on board
Of course, the active speakers in the Monitor Reference series are also equipped with our tried and tested components. After all, we don´t want to make any compromises whatsoever in terms of sound. Our tried and tested 25 mm tweeter dome with its radiation-optimized sound guide has already proven itself in various other series. Lower frequencies are reproduced by 125 or 170 mm bass-midrange drivers, with the largest model being supplemented by a pure 170 mm woofer. The coated low-resonance paper cones are driven by powerful, distortion-optimized magnet systems.

The amplifier, which is integrated in one speaker, works with the low-distortion and extremely efficient Class D technology to deliver - depending on the model selected - between 25 and 60 watts of continuous power (RMS) and between 75 and 120 watts of peak power - naturally per channel. High-quality crossovers ensure an optimum balance between the individual chassis. Thanks to their phase optimization, the sound emitted by all of the speakers reaches the listener at the same time. The supplied remote control allows you to easily select your desired input and volume. In a worst-case scenario, both can also be adjusted via practical buttons at the rear of the speaker.

One principle - three sizes
If we have made the decision extremely easy for you so far, you now need to choose between three different formats. The Magnat Monitor Reference 2A comes in a handy shelf format. The Reference 3A is another compact, yet even more powerful model, and the 5A offers the desirable mix of materials in a full-blown floorstanding speaker. When it comes to choosing the color, on the other hand, it´s much less of a headache, as our Monitor Reference series is only available in a classic black finish.

Active, compact, flexible and powerful

Active speakers are not only a universal problem solver, but they are also a technical stroke of genius. Music can be played from almost any source without additional electronic equipment, which reduces tedious cabling requirements and simplifies operation. For the developers, the integration of chassis and amplifiers means they can be optimally coordinated with one another. An optimal tonal performance is the end result, a trait which is naturally also exhibited by the latest compact addition to Magnat´s portfolio, namely the Monitor Active 2000.

All inclusive

An active speaker system can be used in many different ways, whether it´s as a fully-fledged shelf speaker for hi-fi setups or as a monitor speaker for the desk. Such a system should also be flexible when it comes to inputs - and that´s exactly what the Monitor Active 2000 is. It can be controlled extremely easily from any smartphone, tablet or computer thanks to Bluetooth connectivity. A digital input with optical and coaxial connections supports the playback of high-res music files in formats up to 24 bit and 192 kHz. And 3.5 mm / RCA analog inputs provide connection options for all other sources. The RCA input can also be used by a switchable phono preamplifier, thereby enabling turntables with an MM system to be connected directly to the Monitor Active 2000. The variety of inputs and the volume can be easily controlled via the supplied remote control. What´s more, all of the functions can also be operated via the controls that are located at the rear of the right-hand speaker.

Compact and powerful

So much high-tech doesn´t necessarily have to take up a lot of space. Measuring just 175 x 290 mm tall and 205 mm deep, the Active 2000 cuts a slim figure on a shelf, on a sideboard or next to a monitor. The sturdy MDF housing in its elegant black wood decor, however, offers more than enough space for a resilient two-way system. The right-hand speaker contains all of the electronic components and therefore all of the connections, while the left-hand speaker is simply connected via a speaker cable. This provides you with freedom when setting up the system. Weighing in at 4.4 and 3.8 kilos, the two Active 2000 speakers are by no means lightweight, but they are still very manageable.

Perfectly coordinated performance

A 25 mm tweeter dome and a 125 mm bass-midrange driver are combined in each speaker. The dome is driven by a powerful ferrite magnet and features an optimized sound guide. The bass-midrange driver is equipped with a coated paper cone, as well as a powerful and distortion-optimized magnetic drive. The right-hand speaker also contains the two 35 watt power amplifiers and all of the preamplifier electronics.

The sound that accompanies a film accounts for 50 percent or more of the overall experience, which is a well known fact. Most televisions, however, sound rather modest. A soundbar is often recommended as an audio alternative. Depending on the placement options available, however, a sound deck can sometimes make a lot more sense. Especially when it´s a fully-fledged model like our Magnat Sounddeck 160.

Soundbar or sound deck?
In contrast to a soundbar, there is no doubt about where a sound deck should be positioned. It should be located under the TV. And it is precisely for this location that we designed the Sounddeck 160 – both structurally and acoustically. There is, of course, a lot of technology accommodated in the elegant, 70 cm wide housing. The second advantage of a sound deck like the Magnat 160 is that the subwoofer is already integrated, so setting it up is child´s play.

In terms of acoustics, the Sounddeck 160 naturally offers significantly more volume than a typical soundbar due to the depth of its housing. In addition, we have also provided the sound deck with an ultra-sturdy MDF housing, which means it is in no way inferior to classic speakers. This makes the sound fuller and more authentic and optimizes the all-important vocal reproduction.

A sound deck with plenty of power

Question: What does a sound deck need to be able to do first and foremost? Answer: Reproduce fabulous film audio. This is something that the Magnat Sounddeck 160 does this well. With two tweeters, four mid-range speakers and an integrated subwoofer, it not only conjures up room-filling sound in the living room, or any other room for that matter, but it also delivers an impressive performance with a deep bass range that delves down to 26 Hz. The built-in power amplifiers, which boast a total output of up to 220 watts, provide a sufficient level of power.

Home cinema without a complicated setup

The built-in Dolby Digital decoder enables the best 3D surround sound for the home cinema. The Sounddeck 160 is therefore able to replace a complete surround system. The fact that the active subwoofer is already integrated in the housing means that the set-up process is simply limited to connecting the TV and sound deck. Then insert the power plug – and that´s it.
The integrated equalizer features three presets for sound optimization, i.e. for film, music and vocal reproduction. And if you fancy a bit of cinema enjoyment late at night, the night mode ensures your children or any neighbors close by won´t be disturbed or awoken during loud scenes.

Sound deck with HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity

There are plenty of inputs available to connect your TV set. The easiest input to use is the HDMI port. The TV´s ARC audio return channel will then be used, meaning any sources connected, from TV receivers to game consoles, can be reproduced via the sound deck in the best possible sound quality. You can then also enjoy being able to control the volume of the deck using your TV´s remote control. If this is not possible, the digital coaxial and optical inputs can be used. There is also a jack input and a USB port on board.

Can a sound deck also be used as a Bluetooth speaker? Yes of course. Smartphones, tablets and notebooks can be connected via Bluetooth, meaning maximum sound quality can be reproduced for these devices as well. The Sounddeck 160 is therefore capable of replacing a complete system in your living room or bedroom.

Sound deck with customized housing

Let´s talk about design, because the Sounddeck 160 will cut a fine figure in any room. Measuring 70 cm wide and 34 cm deep, it has the ideal dimensions for most TV sets. Thanks to its overall height of just 80 mm, the sound deck can also be positioned in an open lowboard or sideboard underneath the television. Sturdy feet not only provide a secure footing, but also prevent resonance from occurring. This is to the benefit of the remarkable performance generated by the integrated active subwoofer.

The elegant display at the front of the unit always provides information about which input is selected. This makes prolonged guesswork a thing of the past. This also applies, of course, to operation via the system´s remote control: It allows you to use all of the functions in an intuitive and clear manner.

The name says it all: the Magnat Prime One is the number 1 of the new Connected Audio range from Magnat. It forms the perfect symbiosis of modern streaming and hi-fi stereo sound. With this combination, it raises the category of practical Bluetooth speakers to a new sound level.
And it shows at the very first glance that it fulfills all of these aspirations. 2 x 2-way for the best sound

At the heart of its high-quality stereo reproduction are the 2 x 2-way systems lurking behind the anthracite-coloured fabric of the Prime One. Typical for hi-fi, we have opted for the combination of a Klippel-optimised, high-impulse 84 mm bass-midrange driver and 25 mm fabric dome on each side. This kind of set-up can be found in nearly all compact high-end loudspeakers, and for a good reason: for perfect, fine resolution sound across the entire listening area, 2-way systems are the state of the art. An exceptionally large bass radiator with a diameter of 130 mm enriches the sound of the Prime One with clean low bass reproduction without any flow noise whatsoever.

Modern digital technology

Operating from the background, while also being an equally central component, is the high-quality amplifier section of the Prime One. The integrated module provides the best sound thanks to Bluetooth® 4.0 including Qualcomm® aptX™. Four separate amplifier channels including active filtering through a digital signal processor supply each individual chassis with the best possible sound without any loss. The efficient Class D technology ensures sumptuous power output from the amplifiers with only minimal warming. In addition to streaming via Bluetooth®, the Prime One also features an analogue 3.5 mm jack input for connecting other source devices. A USB charging output supplies mobile devices with up to 2.0A.
