Magnat Monitor S-Line - From Hi-Fi to Dolby Atmos in perfect quality

The name monitor stands for a promise. Because monitors are usually speakers that sound engineers use to put recordings through their paces. We have always transported this claim into the living room with the Monitor series. Maximum detail and precision are among the most outstanding capabilities of this series, but not the only ones.

In addition, the Monitor S-Line offers probably the most comprehensive portfolio of all our series. In addition to classic floorstanding and bookshelf speakers, the new series includes two powerful centers and even dipole speakers for absolutely immersive cinema sound. The absolute highlight: In order to be able to perfectly reproduce digital surround formats with height channels, we have developed special floor-standing speakers with integrated Dolby Atmos systems.

State-of-the-art technology
In addition to this diversity, the Monitor S-Line naturally offers select components. Among them a newly developed tweeter with a 28mm fabric composite dome and an optimized front plate with optimized sound guidance. This is used in almost all speakers in the series, in the shelf speaker, the smaller of the two centers and the dipole play equally gifted variants with 13 mm diameter and ultra-light domes made of Mylar. This extremely light and stable material is also used in space suits. In our tweeters it ensures stable membranes and thus the lowest distortion.

Amplitude and phase optimized crossovers ensure that all acoustic information reaches the listener, i.e. you, at the same time in perfect interaction with our loudspeakers. Gold-plated and encapsulated connection terminals guarantee permanently best connections.

Also visually a real monitor

The solid MDF cabinets of the series leave no questions unanswered acoustically. All speakers are optionally available in timeless black or a noble walnut decor. The baffle is always in anthracite and thus supports the technical character of the series. Those who do not want to look directly at the high-tech drivers can use the supplied front covers with their special acoustic fabric.

Depending on the model, Airflex ports with rounded reflective openings are installed. These prevent annoying flow noise even under full load - typical of the attention to detail with which we develop at Magnat.

The perfect system for hi-fi and cinema sound

We designed the Monitor S-Line with a particular focus on its universal usability. You can start with a stereo system, expand it to a simple cinema configuration, or combine a home theater setup with digital multi-channel sound right away. With the large center speaker S 14 C you get a speaker that is in no way inferior to the other front channels. With the S 10 D dipoles, you generate enveloping, i.e. immersive sound like with no system in this price range ever before, and the floorstanding speakers with the integrated Dolby Atmos modules are the dream of every home theater fan anyway.

Omega CS 12 – A deep bass range and performance perfected

There is no substitute for bass; except of course more bass. And, if in doubt, an even deeper bass. This applies to both stereo systems as well as a home cinema setup. Even high-end speakers benefit from being able to delegate the reproduction of the lowest frequencies to an active subwoofer. Because they can then concentrate on all of the other components of the respective music.

To achieve this goal, an active subwoofer needs a large cone surface area in order to be able to make the air vibrate sufficiently, as well as a powerful driving force in the form of an amplifier. We have provided the Omega CS 12 with all of these ingredients for it to be able to reproduce the finest, most precise bass range in all types of systems; after all, precision is a must, especially in the lower frequency range. When this is achieved, the long-wave frequencies become the desired sound instead of just an imprecise rumbling noise.

Magnat Omega CS 12 – Maximum bass

12 inches, or 300 mm, is the measure of all things when it comes to the Omega CS 12. The hardened and specially coated dual cone configuration has been optimized for use in the subsonic frequency range. The connection to the longthrow surround, which centers the cone, is provided by a bonded and double-stitched construction. The drive, which is a whopping 170 mm magnetic ring, has been optimized using our tried and tested laser measuring technology from Klippel. The high-performance voice coil, which is also huge at 75 mm, is ventilated to prevent compression phenomena from occurring, i.e. ´stagnant air´. A die-cast aluminum speaker basket rounds off the flawless impression of the components used.

Power without end

The "active" element in the active subwoofer naturally comes from the integrated amplifier. And what an amplifier it is. A high-performance Class-D amp combines maximum performance with optimum efficiency. It delivers an impressive 525 watts of continuous power and a peak output of up to 1100 watts. The volume can be altered on the subwoofer itself as well as via remote control. You can therefore easily adjust the music/film audio you´re listening to or "go easy on your neighbors" with a flick of your wrist.

For a perfect connection to the main speakers, the crossover frequency can be regulated between 50 and 150 Hz, and the phase can also be varied between 0 and 180°, which all results in a seamless transition. The particularly relevant frequency range of around 35 Hz can be increased by up to 6 dB via the "Bass Extension" mode.

Whether you have a hi-fi or home cinema setup – a subwoofer always helps

Active subwoofers are something of a universal genius. They help to achieve an optimum sound in both stereo systems and home cinema systems alike. When it comes to more compact main speakers, be it audiophile shelf speakers or a surround system, a subwoofer is almost a must. The rather small cones that are used by the speakers are then relieved of the physically difficult task of reproducing the lowest frequencies and can operate with a much greater degree of freedom. This also applies, however, to larger floorstanding speakers. Active subwoofers such as Magnat´s Omega CS 12 have been perfectly optimized for their ability to reproduce the lowest frequencies. The extremely powerful integrated amplifier is, of course, also a specialist for this job. Besides its output, it is the integrated DSP that primarily enables an optimum connection to existing speakers and the acoustics of a room.

When it comes to home cinema systems in particular, it can make sense to use not just one, but two or more active subwoofers. This is due to the extremely demanding task of reproducing the recorded bass levels for film audio on one hand, and, on the other, the fact that the bass range appears even more harmonious if the room is stimulated in several locations. This avoids standing waves and thus annoying cancellations and/or exaggerated levels in the frequency response.

Unobtrusive with perfect workmanship

We have packed the maximum cone surface area into an elegant, enclosed housing that also looks good in a living room setup. Measuring 385 and 400 mm, the baffle is hardly any larger than the actual woofer; we have only allowed the space for a solid MDF housing to prevent the high level of precision from being distorted by an unstable exterior.

The elegant high-gloss black finish blends in well with any interior on the one hand, yet it is so discreet on the other that the Omega CS 12 is hardly conspicuous. A two-digit display informs the user of the currently selected volume, thereby preventing any surprises. To acoustically decouple the active subwoofer from the floor, special "Extended Surface Dampers" (or ESD for short) are used, which also ensure the unit is seated and positioned securely.

Active, profound and perfect for a home cinema and stereo setup

It cannot be denied that the low-frequency content in a hi-fi and surround system is decisive for the perceived sound quality and, thereby, one´s film and music experience. On the other hand, the placement of speakers is particularly critical because of the low frequency range. Resonance and standing waves can quickly occur and diminish the audio impact.

The answer to these issues lies in active subwoofers, such as the Alpha RS series from Magnat. These can be set up virtually anywhere, because we cannot locate low frequencies. And, thanks to the integrated amplifier, they are independent of the power produced by the electronics, regardless of whether it´s a stereo amplifier or a surround receiver. Two models, one with a 200 mm bass chassis, the other measuring 300 mm in diameter, allow an existing home cinema or hi-fi system, regardless of the make or model, to achieve a new, undreamt of level of quality in the deep bass range.

Perfect adaptation to the room

With various control options for the level, crossover frequency and phase, the Alpha RS active subwoofers can be perfectly adapted to suit any existing system. Thanks to their high-level input, the Alpha series subwoofers can even be used with older components that lack a corresponding subwoofer pre-out. You simply use a free speaker output on the amplifier and the active subwoofers of the Alpha RS series then receive their information via this path.

Active subwoofers improve every home cinema and hi-fi system

Even if you are already using fully-fledged hi-fi speakers, the use of an active subwoofer will still have a positive effect on the sound. The main speakers are relieved of reproducing the lowest frequencies and can therefore devote themselves to all of the other areas of music or film audio with even more precision. The power that the electronics previously used for the deep bass range is thus made available again. The result: Improved spatiality, better precision and of course, thanks to the active subwoofer, an enhanced deep bass range.

Active subwoofers are perfect for a home cinema setup
Active subwoofers are virtually indispensable, especially when it comes to a home cinema setup. Numerous home cinema audio formats contain dedicated low-frequency channels that only carry the respective low-frequency information. This can be recognized from designations such as 5.1 and 7.2. The number after the decimal point indicates the number of low frequency effect channels. Many home cinema setups therefore feature one, two or even four active subwoofers. When the corresponding signals are issued they envelop the room in sound, thereby creating an atmosphere that draws the audience into the action.

Straightforward integration

The process of connecting to an existing surround or hi-fi system is uncomplicated. If there is a pre-out available for the bass range (Sub Out), then this should be used. The crossover frequency from which the active subwoofer should take over proceedings is then adjusted in the settings of the existing electronic components. You can experiment a bit with this setting. Different crossover frequencies are required depending on the size of the speakers already being used. The adjustment process is similar for Magnat´s Alpha RS sub. You can also experiment with the setup here in order to achieve the best possible results.

The best technology with optimal workmanship

A deep bass range and high levels naturally mean that a lot of air has to be moved. The housings of Magnat´s Alpha RS8 and RS12 are therefore manufactured with maximum stability in mind. The woofers radiate towards the front of the solid MDF housings (front-fire design). Two additional Airflex ports also ensure that the energy radiated inside the housing is put to optimal use. These are manufactured in such a way that no flow noise impairs the sound, even when operated at high levels. The woofer itself features a 200 or 300 mm diameter coated paper cone. As is the case for all of our speakers, the construction process for the cone, drive and magnet was optimized using Klippel laser measuring technology.

The amplifiers are designed using efficient Class D technology and generate 160 or 240 watts of peak power respectively, which is more than enough to cleanly reproduce even brutal deep bass lines. The crossover frequency can be regulated between 50 and 150 Hz for both models. Active frequency response equalization up to the upper crossover frequency enables uncomplicated integration into any AV system, even if it features compact main speakers. Both the Magnat Alpha RS8 and the larger RS12 model are available in a timeless black and elegant mocha finish.

No wonder, because good speakers simply cannot be accommodated in a housing that´s just a few millimeters thick. And if these speakers are also directed towards the rear, disappointment is inevitable. Our soundbars offer a quick and easy solution to this, as they contain state of the art technology and, of course, decades of our experience in speaker construction. All of the qualities that you expect from a Magnat speaker are also embodied by the elegant, slim soundbars. Of course, we have also given a lot of thought as to how you can enjoy a cinema experience within your own four walls in the easiest way possible. All it takes is just a few simple steps to fill your home with an impressive surround sound instead of the dismal audio produced by your TV.

Simple connection - wireless perfection

Home cinema? Didn´t this used to involve lots of speakers and even more cables? This isn´t the case with our fully active soundbars, because all you need to do is plug in the power cable and connect the HDMI lead to your TV set. When doing this, use the connection marked "ARC" (which stands for "Audio Return Channel"). This is where the sound from all of the sources that are connected to your television is output.

It means you are able to enjoy films and series with a perfect sound, as well as games, DVDs, Blu-rays or anything else you watch via Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or a set-top box. Better still: If your TV supports HDMI-CEC, and all current models do, then you can conveniently control the system volume with your TV´s remote control. If this isn´t possible, you can simply use the supplied remote control.

Speaking of wireless: Of course, our soundbars also master the most popular of all the sources for simply playing music: Bluetooth. Version 5.0, which features the aptX lossless transmission protocol, means everything you have on your smartphone or tablet can be reproduced by the soundbar in a completely uncompressed format with the finest sound.

Bass? Naturally, and wireless of course

Our soundbars always include an active subwoofer for the very low frequencies. As these frequencies cannot be located by the human ear, this active woofer can be positioned virtually anywhere in your room. In order to take full advantage of this feature, the subwoofers of the SBW series are wirelessly connected to the soundbars; apart from a power connection, the woofer doesn´t require any additional cabling. This enables discreet placement anywhere in the room

2.1 and 3.1 – what do these designations actually mean?

Our soundbars differ in terms of size and number of built-in speaker systems. The SBW 280, for example, is a 2.1 system. This means that the soundbar itself is equipped with two channels for left and right audio. The active subwoofer for the bass component is then represented by the ".1". The SBW 300 features three separate speakers for the right, left and center channels. This is what the "3" in the "3.1" designation stands for. Both solutions offer the best cinema sound. In the case of the larger units, the three separate channels allow a significantly better assignment of the film audio to what´s happening in the picture.

Diverse surround and sound programs

In order to do justice to what the director had in mind for the sound during production, our soundbars naturally master the Dolby Digital format and are thus able to reproduce all the subtleties of a film´s atmosphere. What´s more: Our realistic, DSP-controlled 3D surround sound program elicits an impressive surround sound from all sources. Three presets for the integrated equalizer enable optimized sound reproduction for films, music and enhanced speech intelligibility. The night mode uses a reduced dynamic range, which allows you to easily understand what´s being said late at night without you having to worry about any sudden sound effects waking up the entire house.

Magnat´s soundbars in a timeless design

First and foremost, soundbars need to sound good. However, we couldn´t help making them look very elegant as well with a high-quality finish; after all, they are always located in a prominent position in the living room. The slim 7.5 cm high housings cut a fine figure wherever they are positioned. They can be placed on a sideboard both underneath and in front of the screen, depending on what set up you prefer.

The housings are made of a low-resonance MDF, which is a material also used in the construction of high-end speakers. At the rear you will find a fixture for mounting the soundbar onto a wall, which is ideal if this is where your flat screen is already mounted. All of the essential operating elements are easily accessible at the top of the device. Of course, the active subwoofers are also equipped with sturdy MDF housings. The powerful long-throw woofers, which measure 200 and 250 mm in diameter, are directed to the side, while the aerodynamically shaped bass reflex tube ends at the front.
